About Us
Greetings from Yorokobi!
Yorokobi started from a simple love for Japanese pottery.
After visiting Japan, I fell in love with its art, culture, and the quiet beauty of everyday ceramics. What began as a personal interest slowly turned into a small dream, to bring pieces I genuinely love back to Australia and share them with others.
喜び (Yorokobi) means joy in Japanese. I chose this name as a reminder to find joy in small, ordinary moments - your morning coffee, a shared meal, or a quiet moment to yourself.
Over time, I’ve had the chance to visit kilns and workshops in places like Arita, and to learn a little more about how these pieces are made - from shaping the clay to firing in the kiln. It gave me a deeper appreciation for the care and time behind each piece, and it’s shaped how I curate what you see here.
I believe tableware is meant to be used, not saved for special occasions. I choose pieces that feel good to use every day, simple, thoughtful, and made to be lived with.
Thank you for being here and supporting this small business. I’m still learning as I go, and I’m always grateful for your feedback.
Wishing you small moments of joy, every day.
