Crafted in Gifu, Japan, this Shiranami Whale tea cup it features a majestic whale swimming through traditional shiranami (white waves).  “Shiranami” (白波) literally means “white waves” in Japanese. It usually refers to the white foamy waves on the surface of the sea, often used in traditional Japanese art and poetry to express the beauty and movement of the ocean.

The wave pattern is slightly raised, giving the surface a gentle textured feel that adds depth and a handmade charm you can sense by touch. With its unique octagonal shape and smooth glaze, this cup brings both comfort and artistry to your daily tea ritual.

About Mino Ware (美濃焼)

Mino ware comes from Gifu Prefecture and has been made for over 1,300 years. It’s one of Japan’s oldest and most famous ceramic styles. Mino ware is known for its natural shapes, soft colours, and beautiful glazes that show the Japanese idea of wabi-sabi - finding beauty in simplicity and imperfection.
