The teapot is made from natural unglazed black clay. Over time, it absorbs tea oils and helps bring out a smoother, richer taste in green tea.
It’s decorated with hand-painted cherry blossoms (sakura), a symbol of spring and new beginnings in Japan. Soft gold brushstrokes add a warm and elegant touch to the dark clay. Inside, there’s a built-in clay or fine mesh strainer for smooth, easy pouring.
About Tokoname-ware (常滑焼)
Tokoname ware (Tokoname-yaki) comes from Aichi Prefecture and is one of Japan’s oldest pottery styles, made for over 900 years. It’s known for its rich red and natural clay colours and is especially loved for teapots (kyusu) that bring out the flavour and aroma of Japanese tea. The fine clay and careful handcrafting make each teapot smooth to pour and great at holding heat.
