The smooth black clay is hand-painted with cherry blossoms (sakura) and finished with soft golden brushstrokes that shine gently in the light. The gold and dark clay create a warm contrast, like cherry blossoms at sunset. Each teapot is shaped and balanced by hand for easy handling and smooth pouring.

About Tokoname-ware (常滑焼)

Tokoname ware (Tokoname-yaki) comes from Aichi Prefecture and is one of Japan’s oldest pottery styles, made for over 900 years. It’s known for its rich red and natural clay colours and is especially loved for teapots (kyusu) that bring out the flavour and aroma of Japanese tea. The fine clay and careful handcrafting make each teapot smooth to pour and great at holding heat.

Care

Handwash only and allow to air dry completely. Avoid detergent to preserve the clay’s natural properties.
