This Mino Ware Yuzamashi (湯冷まし) by Shoko-en has a curved spout that lets you pour smoothly and with control. The side handle makes it easy to hold, and the glossy white glaze gives it a clean, simple look.

How to use

As a yuzamashi: pour hot water into the bowl to cool it down before brewing delicate teas like sencha or gyokuro.
As a katakuchi matcha bowl: whisk matcha directly inside and pour into cups or other vessels for serving.
Perfect for culinary uses too, such as pouring sauces or dressings.

About Mino Ware (美濃焼)

Mino ware comes from Gifu Prefecture and has been made for over 1,300 years. It’s one of Japan’s oldest and most famous ceramic styles. Mino ware is known for its natural shapes, soft colours, and beautiful glazes that show the Japanese idea of wabi-sabi - finding beauty in simplicity and imperfection.

Care

Please handwash gently and allow it to air dry completely in a dry place. To preserve the natural taste of tea, we do not recommend using detergents.

Due to the nature of pottery, there may be differences in colour, size, weight, etc., depending on the kiln and temperature conditions.

This product may have glaze drips (traces of glaze that have been applied to the vessel) or uneven colouring. This is normal and part of what makes each piece unique.

Each ceramic piece is handcrafted by artisans, so slight variations in shape, glaze, or colour may occur.   

Over time and with exposure to water, fine crackle patterns may appear on the surface. This is known as “kannyu” (貫入) in Japanese pottery, a natural and normal characteristic of ceramics.
